This article explores how you can combine data from multiple SEO tools into a single report, automatically. This will be done by using a data dashboard.
Data dashboards combine data coming from multiple sources (such Ahrefs, SEMRush Google Analytics, Salesforce, etc.) into a single report. Not only that, but the report will constantly refresh itself to keep the data new.
Added bonuses are that you can schedule automatic email reports to clients from within the data dashboard. You just set the tool so it emails your client / boss once a week (or more) the relevant data from your SEO tools.
If a large part of your work as a marketing professional requires reporting, this will considerably simplify your life.
How to merge data from SEO tools such as SEMRush, Majestic or Moz into one report
Create a (free) Databox account
Databox is a data visualization platform that has integrations with each of these tools and can merge their data into a single report. Best of all, it also has a free version.
The first step is to create a free Databox account.
Add your data source connections
Once you’ve created your account, you’ll need to add in SEO tools such as Majestic or Moz as a data source. This will enable Databox to draw in data from these tools and display them in a single report.
To add an integration, simply go to the “Data Manager” tab and click on “New Integrations”.
From the list, choose whichever data source you require.
You’ll then have to fill in a few details for each SEO tool. Each are different from one another, but it doesn’t require much effort.
Below you can see the integration process with Ahrefs.
Step 1: Find Ahrefs in the data integrations list
Step 2: Fill in relevant details to your Ahrefs connection.
Step 3: Click Activate, and then authorize access in the pop-up that appears.
And that’s it. All you have to do now is add metrics from Ahrefs over into your databoard.
Create a databoard and combine information from all these tools
Once you’ve completed integrations into Databox, navigate to the “Databoards” tab and select “New Databoard” and choose “Start Blank”
Once here, you’ll be presented with an empty panel. On the left, you’ll have a list called “Metric Library”. This contains all the available metrics that were imported from your SEO tools, such as Ahrefs, Moz or SEMRush. You can also integrations such as Google Analytics or Search Console.
All you have to do now is just drag and drop the relevant metrics that you need onto the databoard.
As soon as you drag and drop those data elements, they’ll start to fetch data from your SEO tools and populate the board.
Sharing and email scheduling
Once you’ve completed setup, you can now schedule that regular reports be sent over to clients with the most up-to-date SEO information.
At the Databoard screen, simply hover your mouse over the Databoard you’re interested in and press share.
You’ll then be presented with multiple sharing methods that you can easily configure. In this example case, we’re configuring an automated report sent once a week through email.
